The ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology.
Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
MANDATORY PRECOURSE MATERIAL
Before you come to your scheduled ACLS course, the American Heart Association has made it mandatory that you complete the ACLS Self Assessment and Pre-Test and score a 70% or higher to participate in the ACLS Course. Last-minute registrations will cause a problem as students will not have enough time to complete the pre-course materials and may have to be rescheduled in order to participate fully in the course.
This assessment can only be taken on a PC Mac/Win, you are required to print out your results and bring them with you to class to present them to your instructor. failure to do so may require your class be rescheduled until you are compliant.
We have also included the link below to the American Heart Association’s Student Website:
Please enter the code, “acls15” in the box that you find on the webpage, then complete the test, and then print out the page with your score and bring it to your class. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email.
