Description
This instructor-led, classroom-based PALS course is an essential resource for training physicians, nurses, and emergency medical care providers in PALS. Also useful as a pre- and post-course reference book. Based on the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC.
PALS (original)
This classroom- and video-based, instructor-led PALS course employing simulated case scenarios of pediatric emergencies to reinforce important concepts. have the knowledge and skills to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children. The goal of the PALS course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. Manual includes information on:
- concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment
- basic life support,
- advanced and effective resuscitation
- defibrillation, cardioversion and intubation techniques
- Asses and treat airway and ventilation issues
- Acquire vascular access
- Provide fluid and medication therapy
- team dynamics.
- pediatric emergencies
- Recognize respiratory failure, shock, and cardiac arrest
- Identify and treat rhythm disturbances
- PALS treatment algorithms
MANDATORY PRECOURSE MATERIAL
Before you come to your scheduled PALS course, the American Heart Association has made it mandatory that you complete the PALS Self Assessment and Pre-Test and score a 70% or higher to participate in the PALS Course. Last-minute registrations will cause a problem as students will not have enough time to complete the pre-course materials and may have to be rescheduled in order to participate fully in the course.
You are required to print out your results and bring them with you to class to present them to your instructor. failure to do so may require your class be rescheduled until you are compliant.
